Sport Bild reports that after contract extension talks between Bochum and Takuma Asano failed, the winger is now an option at several Bundesliga clubs.
Asano’s contract at Bochum expires in the summer and it is reported that he wants a salary of roughly €1.5m a year, with his current deal he is on around €1m a year. It can be assumed that the salary was one of the issues in the failed contract extension.
The Japanese international is now expected to leave Bochum in the summer for free and will likely stay in the Bundesliga. Borussia Mönchengladbach, Union Berlin, Augsburg and Mainz are all interested in the 29-year-old. Still, Gladbach could be the most likely option as they are one of the stronger clubs financially in the running for Asano and the Japanese international could help lead a young team.
In 16 games this season for 14th-placed Bochum, Asano is the club’s top scorer with five goals and has assisted once.
