Germany’s popular tabloid believes the 32-year-old might stay at the BayArena after all.
An agreement between Bayer Leverkusen and Sunderland for Granit Xhaka is currently considered highly unlikely, per BILD.
Xhaka has told the Bundesliga club’s executives that he is 100% committed to Leverkusen if the deal falls through.
Sunderland have reportedly offered Xhaka a €10million yearly wage – he currently earns €7million – but have set a maximum budget.
Die Werkself therefore understood that they will not significantly increase their initial bid of around €10million.
The newly promoted Premier League side’s valuation of the Swiss midfielder is way short of Leverkusen’s €20million demand.
