Stuttgart sporting director Sven Mislintat is open about the possible departure of 21-year-old Englishman Clinton Mola back to his homeland but reiterates that there’s nothing concrete, as of yet.
“There’s nothing concrete,” Mislintat told Kicker. “If he would like to go back to his home country, then we will discuss it. But I would prefer it if he stayed here.”
Mola has impressed during pre-season but has played just three Bundesliga games for Stuttgart since his move from Chelsea in January 2020 because of various injuries.
Mislintat has a preference to keep Mola at Stuttgart, even more so given the adductor problem that current left-back Borna Sosa has. Sosa has also been linked with a move to Manchester City and this season, Mola could effectively take the next step in his development.
Mola has two-years remaining on his current deal and whilst providing competition for Sosa, can also play in various positions including central-midfield and at centre-back.
