A transfer fee demand in the neighborhood of €2-3 million has reportedly led VfB Stuttgart to break off talks with FK Austria Wien for the purchase of midfield talent Matthias Braunöder. This is according to the local “Stuttgarter Nachrichten”, which also claims that the Swabians have dropped the pursuit of the player irrespective of which tier they play in next season.
Whether the Austria U21 captain makes the step up to the German Bundesliga remains to be seen. TSG 1899 Hoffenheim were once linked with the 21-year-old. Sky Germany has intermittently claims that there are other top-tier German sides who have the budding talent in their sites. Sky has never reported on specific names.
