SC Freiburg coach Christian Streich has made it clear that he would like to strengthen his squad this month.
“I hope something will happen soon. [The squad is too thin, the training group is too small,” Streich told DPA.
“But it’s been like that for the whole first half of the season, because we’ve had a lot of bad luck with injuries and a lot of sick players.”
In addition to long-term absentees Daniel-Kofi Yereh and Christian Günter, Freiburg are currently without Philipp Lienhart and Kenneth Schmidt, while Lucas Höler missed the first training sessions of the new year due to illness.
Ritsu Doan is also unavailable as he’s been called up to represent Japan at the Asian Cup.
