
Steven Gerrard has decided to withdraw from contention for the Rangers role, according to GIVEMESPORT senior correspondent Ben Jacobs. The club’s former manager had been a leading candidate to replace Russell Martin but the Ibrox outfit will now have to look elsewhere.
Following Martin’s sacking last Sunday, the Liverpool icon held talks with the Scottish giants but no deal could be agreed. GMS sources understand that Gerrard has decided the timing wasn’t quite right to return.
Conversations were positive, and a full agreement was almost reached. However, the Englishman has now removed himself from the process. That said, it’s understood that both sides have agreed to leave the door open for the future.
