With Sevilla struggling in front of goal, they have begun their search for a striker as they look to distance themselves from the relegation zone. Quique Sánchez Flores has often highlighted that Sevilla have gone into 2024 with just one fit striker, and with Rafa Mir’s future at the club in doubt, Sevilla are looking for reinforcements. The name at the top of that list is thought to be that of David Datro Fofana, currently on loan at Union Berlin from Chelsea according to Marca.
It is thought that with Union Berlin unhappy with the forward’s current output and Chelsea looking to loan him out to another club for the rest of the season, a deal is certainly on the cards, although the deal is almost entirely down to Chelsea. The 21-year-old from Ivory Coast has just one goal in 12 matches for the German club, but it should be noted that the team as a whole has been struggling; he is simply one piece in a disappointing season.
Fofana would be a signing in line with Sevilla’s current transfer policy; signing young players with a high ceiling from big clubs on loan with a potential to turning the deal into a permanent transfer, such as with Lucien Agoumé.
