Sergio Busquets is set to leave Barcelona following the expiration of his contract at the end of the season, report Mundo Deportivo.
On Friday it was communicated that the 34-year-old retired from international football and it appears as though he will be leaving the Camp Nou as well.
According to sources close to the player, Busquets’ departure from the Catalan coast will be made official in the next couple days and Barcelona’s board are already aware of the midfielder’s decision.
The Spaniard is closely linked with a move to Inter Milan in the United States. It is believed that he will be reunited Lionel Messi at the MLS outfit after the Argentine leaves PSG this coming year or 2024.
The Barça captain is still an important player in Xavi’ starting XI and the club will be using the January and summer transfer windows to find a suitable replacement.
Barcelona are currently considering players whose contracts are expiring at the end of the season at their respective clubs, including Chelsea’s N’Golo Kanté and Manchester City’s İlkay Gündoğan.
