VfB Stuttgart have confirmed that striker Sehrou Guirassy is set to miss the next few weeks for the club having suffered a thigh injury on Saturday.
Guirassy opened the scoring for Stuttgart in their 3-0 win against Union Berlin, however, he was unable to impact the game any more as he was substituted off in the 30th minute with a thigh injury.
Despite the injury to the 27-year-old, Stuttgart showed that the impact of Guirassy may not be as sorely missed as substitutes Deniz Undav and Silas scored late on to secure the win for VfB. Undav is likely to replace Guirassy, and in his five games for Stuttgart, he currently sits on three goals.
When asked about the injury to his star striker, Sebastian Hoeneß said: “The failure of Serhou is bitter for him personally and for us as a team. Everyone has seen what an outstanding condition Serhou was in last. We must and will compensate for his failure as much as possible.”
His striker against Union was his 14th goal of the season for Stuttgart which means he is currently only two goals off of the top goal scorer tally from last season (16).
Stuttgart’s next games are against Hoffenheim, Union Berlin in the DFB Pokal and Heidenheim before a visit from Borussia Dortmund on the 11th of November.
