Schalke 04’s worst fears have been thrust into reality this afternoon as reports emerged that youngster Zaid Tchibara’s season is over.
The 19-year-old, making only his second professional appearance in Sunday’s 2-0 loss to SV Darmstadt, ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament.
Sky Sports announced that the offensive player underwent an MRI scan directly after the game.
It has since been stated that the Togolese teen who signed a professional contract with the Royal Blues in January, will be out for “several months”.
Schalke currently sit in 13th-place in the 2.Bundesliga just 6 points clear of the relegation zone after 23 matchdays.
