According to Sky and Sport1 reports, Schalke have contacted free-agent coach Vladimir Petkovic about their open managerial position.

Schalke Director Peter Knäbel is interested in former Switzerland and Bordeaux manager, Vladimir Petkovic. This report has been confirmed by Sky and Sport1, as the newly-promoted side hope to find a solution as soon as possible.
Petkovic coached the Swiss national team from 2014 to 2021, notably reaching the quarter-finals of the Euros in 2021. He then joined French side Bordeaux and was sacked less than a season into the job.
The current free-agent manager joins former Bochum trainer Thomas Reis as the current likeliest candidates for the position.
