Leroy Sané appears to be heading for the exit door at Bayern Munich, with Kicker reporting that the Bavarians are unlikely to offer the winger a new contract.
Sané is out of contract in the summer, and the report claims that the 28-year-old would have to show “an extreme improvement in performance” to keep his chances of staying at Bayern alive.
Bayern president Herbert Hainer recently indicated that a new deal for Sané isn’t a high priority when he named a list of players he considers important to the club’s future, and the winger was not among them.
“We have several players whose contracts expire in 2025,” Hainer told Sky Germany when asked why he didn’t mention Sané.
“I don’t want to talk about every single player today. I mentioned these three (Jamal Musiala, Joshua Kimmich and Alphonso Davies) because I believe that they could become, or already are, formative faces of FC Bayern”.
Sané is one of the highest earners in the Bayern squad, earning around €20 million a year.
He has struggled to find his best form this season after returning from pubic bone surgery.
So far this campaign, Sané has managed just four goals and one assist in 18 appearances.
