Marco Reus didn’t exactly end 2023 on a high note – and his problems could grow if Jadon Sancho arrives at Borussia Dortmund.

Borussia Dortmund are closing in on a deal to sign the Manchester United attacker on loan, and according to Bild, the Bundesliga outfit don’t just want to use him on the wing, but also in attacking midfield – Reus’ preferred position – meaning the 34-year-old could be pushed down the pecking order.

Reus spent 90 minutes on the bench in Dortmund’s last game of the 2023, a 1-1 draw with Mainz, after giving BVB coach Edin Terzic a no-look handshake following a substitution in the previous game against Augsburg.

The relationship between Reus and Terzic is said to be strained, with reports suggesting the 34-year-old was leading the push for a coaching change before Christmas – but to no avail.

Marco Reus’ contract with Dortmund expires at the end of the season.
