Hasan Salihamidzic has confirmed that Bayern Munich rejected interest in Benjamin Pavard towards the end of the January transfer window.
According to reports, Inter made a late inquiry for Pavard, but a mid-season departure for the Frenchman was out of the question for Bayern’s board member for sport.
“‘Benji’ is a very important, flexible player for us at the back. We have very big goals this season, that’s why we don’t want to and can’t do without him,” Salihamidzic told Sport Bild.
“The inquiry was even attractive financially, but sporting matters always come first for us.
“‘Benji’ is a special player who is sensitive and needs affection. I know what a big heart he has and what he can achieve.”
26-year-old Pavard has played for Bayern since 2019 and is out of contract in 2024.
