Bayern Munich announced the signing on Sadio Mané from Liverpool on Wednesday. The 30-year-old discussed, via the club’s website, his reasoning behind joining the Bundesliga champions.
“I’m really happy to finally be at Bayern in Munich,” said Mané. “We spoke a lot and I felt big interest from this great club right from the beginning, so for me there were no doubts. It’s the right time for this challenge. I want to achieve a lot with this club, in Europe too. During my time in Salzburg I watched a lot of Bayern games – I really like this club.”
Mané has signed a three-year contract until 2025 with Bayern, paying Liverpool €41m including bonuses.
The Senegalese forward spent six years in the Premier League and won every trophy at Liverpool, scoring 120 goals and creating 48 in 269 games.
Mané will provide competition Kingsley Coman, Serge Gnabry and Leroy Sané and will not be a replacement for Robert Lewandowski.
