According to a report from La Gazzetta dello Sport, AS Roma are considering a move for Olympique Lyonnais striker Georges Mikautadze (24). It’s shaping up to be a busy summer in the Italian capital, with the club preparing for a first season under new head coach Gian Piero Gasperini.
The Italian outlet writes that Lyon’s current financial troubles could convince Roma to make a move for the Georgian international. The French club are set to be relegated to the second tier of French football (pending an appeal) due to rising debts. A reality that has seen clubs across Europe cast their eyes over Lyon’s talents.
Roma are far from the only team interested in the Lyon-born striker, who scored 17 in 47 appearances across all competitions in his first season back at his boyhood club, with Sunderland AFC and teams in Saudi Arabia reportedly considering a move.
