Roma manager Jose Mourinho is now under investigation for his comments about referee Matteo Marcenaro, ahead of the club’s clash against Sassuolo.
With the two sides to meet tomorrow, Mourinho was asked about the tie by the reporters. He went onto question Marcenaro’s apparent inability to manage the game and he also criticised VAR referee Marco di Bello for his apparent failures. He also went on to criticise Domenico Berardi and his behaviour against the opposition players.
ANSA now state (via TMW) that the FIGC has opened proceedings against Mourinho for these comments and the investigation is now underway.
Marcenaro is yet to manage a single Roma game in the Serie A and he didn’t manage a Serie A game involving Roma even last season. Essentially, he has never managed a Giallorossi game during Mourinho’s tutelage at the club and that makes Mourinho’s comments all the more strange. But considering Mourinho’s recent record with officials, it doesn’t come as a surprise.
