Speaking to Kicker, Eintracht Frankfurt centre-back Robin Koch has commented on what his future at the Bundesliga club may hold once his loan expires.
Koch is currently on a season-long loan from Championship side Leeds United but his contract at the club expires next summer. This means that on January 1st, Frankfurt can begin negotiations with the player on joining on a free transfer six months later. On the situation, Koch said: “I feel very comfortable here and have thought about the decision very carefully. Before the move, I also asked some players what it was like here. So far, expectations have even been exceeded. After the year we will see what happens next.”
The 27-year-old was then asked if he can see himself staying longer at the club and Koch said: “I can imagine that very well. I currently feel in perfect hands at Eintracht and want to achieve a lot here.”
The defender has played in every one of Frankfurt’s games this season as they currently hold the best defensive record in the league having only conceded six goals in eight games. Koch will be hoping that his form will catch the eye of Julian Nagelsmann and mean that he can have a shot of impressing the Bundestrainer ahead of a home Euros next summer.
Frankfurt have had an odd start under new manager Dino Toppmöller, on the one hand, they have a solid defence marshalled by Koch but on the other, their attacking output has significantly regressed and this will likely explain their search for a striker in the winter.
