Robin Gosens’ move to Bayer Leverkusen falls through

Bayer Leverkusen’s move for Inter’s Robin Gosens (28) has fallen through after the Bundesliga side were unable to find a buyer for Dutch left-back Mitchell Bakker (22), according to Kicker.

B04’s Managing Director, Simon Rolfes, confirmed on Wednesday that Gosens would not join Die Werkself – Inter wanted to include a purchase obligation. “There is no offer from Bayer and there is no intention to buy him,” Rolfes told Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger.

However, per Kicker’s report, Rolfes’ wording indicates that B04 would still like to sign Gosens on loan, but without an obligation to buy. Should the Germany international leave Inter, the Serie A side would be interested in signing Stuttgart’s Borna Sosa (24) as a replacement.

As reported by Sport1 on Tuesday, Bayer Leverkusen had submitted a proposal to Inter which included a €2m loan fee for Gosens, who has featured in all for league games for Inter this season.

Before tomorrow’s deadline, B04 would still like to sign a left-back and a No. 6.
