Revealed – Vitor Roque’s Barcelona jersey plan

An insight into the plans of incoming Barcelona frontman Vitor Roque to choose his number in Xavi Hernández’s squad has been provided.

The name of young striker Roque has of course taken its place front and centre in the headlines in Catalunya’s capital over the last 24 hours.

This comes after the Brazilian touched down in his new home for the first time in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

After Barcelona managed to reach an agreement with their counterparts at Athletico Paranaense to move Roque’s transfer forward by six months, the Brazilian international underwent his scheduled medical, ahead of linking up with his new teammates.

The Barca faithful, as a result, could see the latest addition to their side’s ranks in action for the first time as early as next Thursday, against Las Palmas.

What number, though, is likely to be emblazoned across Roque’s back, when he does take to the pitch for his debut?

The info comes courtesy of Sport, who have revealed that six numbers are currently available for selection – ’10’, ’12’, ’16’, ’19’, ’24’ and ’25’.

The 10 is viewed as boasting excessive pressure, whilst 12 and 25 are generally donned by more defensive players.

Sport therefore point towards 19 as Roque’s predicted pick, with the location of his locker in the Barcelona dressing room – in close proximity to that of no.17 Marcos Alonso – perhaps serving as a hint towards as much.
