Having turned down a new contract beyond 2023, Bayer Leverkusen winger Paulinho has been linked with a move to Brazil, with Palmeiras and Atletico Mineiro interested.
However, returning to his home country is no longer an option, because the transfer window in Brazil is now closed.
It remains to be seen whether Paulinho, who was back in training on Monday, will find another escape route or remain at BayArena.
The 22-year-old has featured a total of 73 times with eight goals and five assists to his name following his move to Germany from Vasco da Gama in 2018.
