SSC Napoli are said to be leading the race for Stuttgart defender Kostas Mavropanos.

Newly crowned Italian champions SSC Napoli appear to be the frontrunners in the race to sign VfB Stuttgart’s Kostas Mavropanos.

According to Italian transfer expert Nicolo Schira, scouts from Napoli and Inter have been closely monitoring Mavropano’s progress over the past few months.

Greek sports site SPORT24 has also reported on Napoli’s interest in the central defender.

At Napoli, the Greece international could replace Min-jae Kim, who has been linked with Manchester City and United.

According to reports, Mavropanos has a release clause of €30 million euros in his contract with Stuttgart, which runs until 2025.

However, should Stuttgart be relegated from the Bundesliga, the transfer fee would be up for negotiation. In that case, he would likely leave for around €15 million.
