Mainz are looking to strengthen in central defence following the departure of Jeremiah St. Juste to Sporting CP and with Moussa Niakhaté set to join Nottingham Forest.
According to L’Equipe, ‘Die Nullfünfer’ have drawn up a list of at least three candidates, with one of them being FC Toulouse’s Anthony Rouault.
They could face competition for his signature, though, with Gladbach also said to be monitoring the 21-year-old central defender.
Rouault made 27 Ligue 2 appearances for Toulouse last season, scoring four goals.
