Regardless of Schalke 04’s struggles this season, Tom Krauß has made excellent progress at the Gelsenkirchen club, establishing himself as a regular starter following his loan move from RB Leipzig last summer.

The 21-year-old’s midfielders good performances have apparently caught the eye of Borussia Mönchengladbach, with Sport Bild reporting that the ‘Die Fohlen’ are keen to make a move for the 21-year-old midfielder this summer.

However, whether or not Gladbach are able to bring Krauß to the Borussia-Park could depend on whether or not Schalke 04 avoid relegation.

Schalke are obliged to buy the player from RB Leipzig for around 1.5 million plus possible bonuses if they stay in the league.

With this in mind, Gladbach will have a much better chance of acquiring the player if Schalke 04 are relegated and their obligation to buy won’t kick in.

Mainz and a number of English clubs are also said to be interested in Krauß.
