Speaking to L’Équipe, Loïc Badé (23), currently on loan at Sevilla from Stade Rennais, has said that he is open to remaining at the La Liga club beyond the end of the current season.
Badé joined Rennes from RC Lens for €17m in the summer of 2021, but struggled in his one and only season at Rennes, which he has described to L’Équipe as “difficult.” The France U21 international began the season on loan at Premier League club Nottingham Forest, but he failed to make a single appearance for the club, at least in part due to the bloated nature of a club that had been reinforced by 22 summer recruits.
However, Badé has refound his best form in Spain and scored during Sevilla’s Europa League quarter-final victory over Manchester United last week. Asked if he wanted to stay at Sevilla, Badé replied, “I feel very good here, in this city and at this club, so of course [I could] stay here. We’ll have to think about it at the end of the season.”
Asked if Sevilla have made any move to make his loan permanent, the Rennes loanee replied, “I don’t know, but I’m just thinking about showing good things. We’ll see in June.”
However, Badé isn’t ruling out a return to Rennes either: “It can’t be ruled out. If I arrive at Rennes with full confidence, it could be different. But I’ve found a certain stability here (in Sevilla),” concluded the French centre-back.
