Rennes last night completed the double over PSG this Ligue 1 season. After defeating Les Parisiens at home back in January, the Bretons have done it again at the Parc des Princes with a mature performance and 2-0 win on Sunday. Former Lyon manager and current Rennes boss Bruno Genesio has won six league outings against the QSI-owned Paris Saint-Germain, no Ligue 1 coach has done better than him.
Still, Genesio was in no mood to boast after Les Rouge et Noir piled even more scrutiny on Christophe Galtier. The PSG head coach’s future at the club is being increasingly called into question, but it transpired that, as of now, Galtier is expected to keep his place in the dugout.
The former Lille manager has received the backing of Genesio, as pointed out by RMC Sport. “We’re doing the same job. In addition, it turns out we are quite close. I am of course happy to have won but I also know how he can feel. There is a international break so I told him to rest well and to make the most of the break, because we still have ten games left. We will meet each other in other conditions.”
PSG have a 7-point deficit on second-placed arch-rivals Marseille, but a tough run of fixtures lies ahead. They will host Lyon and travel to Nice after the international break.
