A headline member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid did not take part in training alongside the rest of the club’s squad on Friday.
The player in question? Dani Carvajal.
Stopper Carvajal of course set pulses racing earlier this week, in limping out of Real Madrid’s Champions League quarter-final downing of Manchester City.
In turn, just two days out from the club’s showdown with arch rivals Barcelona, it no doubt came as a further concern to hear that the Spanish international was not present in group training with Carlo Ancelotti’s squad.
Those of a Blancos persuasion, however, need not fret.
This comes amid confirmation that Carvajal is in fact not dealing with any kind of significant injury.
Amid the understanding that a day of rest would be of more benefit to the experienced full-back, Mario Cortegana of The Athletic has revealed that:
‘The club explain that he will start on Sunday.’
