Real Madrid sign Kylian Mbappe on a five-year deal

Real Madrid have announced the signing of French phenom Kylian Mbappe on a free transfer following the expiration of his contract with Paris Saint-Germain.

The news comes after a leak by Mbappe himself during a conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron at the national team’s training camp.

The 25-year-old already verbally agreed to join Real Madrid in February before publicly announcing his departure from PSG in May.

With all formalities completed, he’ll officially move to Spain when the La Liga transfer window opens on July 1st.

The 2018 World Cup winner leaves PSG as their all-time leading scorer, having amassed an incredible 256 goals since joining them from AS Monaco on an initial loan in 2017.

In Madrid, he’s secured a lucrative contract that keeps him at the Bernabeu until 2029.

Reports suggest he’ll earn €15 million a season, alongside a massive €150 million signing-on bonus spread over five years.

Also, he’ll retain a percentage of his image rights, a sticking point in past negotiations. The French national team captain refuses to endorse certain products like betting and fast food and has objected to the use of his image by certain companies.

This signing marks the end of a long and patient pursuit by Real Madrid. They had pushed to sign him many times even before he joined PSG from Les Monagasques.

They tried to lure Mbappe in 2022, but the forward opted to extend his contract with PSG. This latest move finally brings the highly sought-after striker to the Spanish giants.

Mbappe’s arrival gives Los Blancos another potent weapon in attack. He joins a squad already boasting Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo Goes, and Jude Bellingham.

The combination of his electrifying pace, clinical finishing, and experience at the highest level promises to be a major weapon for Carlo Ancelotti’s side as they bid to extend their incredible record of La Liga and UEFA Champions League titles.
