Bild report that RB Leipzig will announce their new sporting director after the summer transfer window.
The new appointment will replace Markus Krösche, who left for Eintracht Frankfurt last summer. Whilst a successor has been found but hasn’t been named, Leipzig CEO Oliver Mintzlaff says that the new appointment will be an “enrichment for the Bundesliga.”
RB Leipzig had a previous agreement with another sporting director but were unwilling to pay such a high compensation fee. The new sporting director emerged as a candidate shortly after their DFB Pokal win against Freiburg, their first major trophy.
The new sporting director also hasn’t had any input on the summer recruitment at RB Leipzig, but will also expand the management team at the club, unlike his predecessors.
RB Leipzig recently extended the contract of Christopher Nkunku until 2026 and whilst talks with Domenico Tedesco are on hold until November/December, the head coach is happy at the Bundesliga club.
