The Athletic report that Rayo Vallecano head coach Andoni Iraola is one of the names on Leeds United’s managerial shortlist.
After the dismissal of Jesse Marsch earlier on Monday, Leeds’ Spanish sporting director Victor Orta is getting to work on finding a replacement for the American coach, who only lasted 11 months in the role.
Diario AS have reported that Real Madrid Castilla boss Raúl has declined an offer from the Yorkshire side as his Madrid team are fighting for promotion.
Raúl has previously attracted interest from Germany and is believed to be more interested in staying at the club with one eye on taking over the first team in the future.
Iraola has Rayo playing an attractive style of football and they are an energetic team that gets results. In his playing days, Iraola worked under former Leeds coach Marcelo Bielsa at Athletic Club.
Rayo are currently fifth in the La Liga standings after beating Almería 2-0 at home on Monday night.
