In latest Bundesliga news, Raphael Guerreiro is expected to leave Borussia Dortmund on a free transfer in the summer transfer window.
The 28-year-old joined the Black and Yellows in the summer of 2016 from Ligue 1 side Lorient. He has been an important player at the Signal Iduna Park, with the Portuguese making 206 appearances across all competitions so far.
However, his current contract is set to expire at the end of the season, fueling plenty of speculation about his future.
According to a report from Ruhr Nachrichten, Guerreiro is expected to leave Dortmund as a free agent when his contract expires in the summer. But he will be free to hold talks with other clubs in the January transfer window.
Guerreiro is a top-class player who can operate as a left-back as well as a midfielder. He is known for his defensive contributions and is also praised for his passing and ability to hold onto the ball.
The 28-year-old made a strong start to the 2022-23 season, starting 12 matches in the Bundesliga. He also featured in four Champions League games this campaign, with two goals to his name.
The former Lorient star is currently involved with the Portugal national side at the 2022 World Cup, with the defender having played three matches so far.
In a surprise decision, Fernando Santos featured Guerreiro instead of Joao Cancelo for the round of 16 clash against Switzerland. And he repaid the faith of his manager by scoring a superb goal in Portugal’s 6-1 victory.
A strong World Cup will serve to increase interest in the 28-year-old who could be signed for free in the summer.
