Rampage Jackson’s Live Reaction to Son, Raja, Assaulting Wrestler

Raja Jackson, the son of former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson, went viral on Saturday night after a brutal assault on professional wrestler Stuart Smith, also known as Syko Stu. The incident, which took place on a Knokx Pro Wrestling show promoted by WWE Hall of Famer, Rikishi, saw Raja interrupt Smith’s match and recklessly slam him to the mat. The move appeared to knock Smith unconscious, at which point the footage became even more shocking.

With his victim defenceless, Jackson mounted him and delivered more than 20 blows to the head. The unsettling footage quickly went viral. In the aftermath, ex-UFC titleholder Rampage sent out a tweet indicating that his son’s actions were part of “a work gone wrong” – which is a professional wrestling term for something that is scripted not going as planned.

Footage has now emerged of the exact moment that ‘Rampage’ first saw the vicious assault. The 47-year-old was broadcasting live alongside Kick streamer Sneako as the clip first began to circulate, and the cameras captured the veteran’s live reaction to the carnage unfolding on the phone he was watching.

While the elder Jackson’s tweet would later claim that the incident was all a part of the show, the look on his face when watching the footage tells a different story. ‘Rampage’ became aware of the incident after viewers of the stream he was appearing on began to talk about it in the chat.

Rampage Jackson Watches Son’s Viral Assault on Pro Wrestler For First Time

Towards the beginning of the clip, Jackson took a call – presumably from a family member – in which he asked: “Is Raja in trouble?” After getting off the phone, he began to ask about around him: “Is he going to get banned for it – is it really bad? The former Octagon standout was referring to a potential ban for Raja from MMA, where the trained fighter is 4-0 as an amateur. Shortly afterwards, ‘Rampage’ was shown the incident directly – and his eyes appeared to grow wider as he began to take in the extent of the violence on show.

Immediately after watching the clip, Jackson spoke to someone off camera, stating: “I hope it was staged… sometimes people do hardcore wrestling”. He then asked users in the chat: “Chat, was that hardcore?”

However, Jackson’s hope that the incident was a piece of scripted entertaintment has seemingly been extinguished by footage showing Raja taking a phone call after the incident where he admitted he had thrown the punches because Smith had “p***ed him off” during an altercation earlier in the day.

The assault only ended when other wrestlers on the show intervened to prevent Jackson from inflicting any more punishment. According to a report from Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful, no punches were supposed to be thrown after the initial slam. The attack left veteran wrestler Smith with serious injuries as he was rushed to hospital. No further updates are yet available on his condition, but Raja is almost certain to face further consequences as a result of the ugly scenes.

As part of his tweet addressing his son’s actions, Rampage revealed that his son had recently sustained concussion in sparring and stated that Raja should never have been in the ring on Saturday night.
