PSG’s Christophe Galtier: “We have to find the right solution for the team to perform well.”

Ahead of PSG’s match tonight against Troyes, manager Christophe Galtier was asked about how he plans to navigate the remaining five matches while dealing with more drama-filled headlines and injuries, beyond the suspension of Lionel Messi.

“Regarding the injuries, Nuno Mendes is injured until the end of the season. There’s only Juan Bernat in that position. We’re play one game a week, I hope it will be enough. We will work throughout the week with other options. We have brought a young player with us (Serif Nhaga).”

Loss of defenders to injury has been a season-long issue, but the full-back position specifically, is a concern in terms of finishing the season. “Regarding the right-back position, with Mukiele out for the rest of the season, there is also the suspension of Hakimi. We’ve been working on just one other option. That’s how it is, it’s part of the job of coaching. We can encounter great difficulties and we have to find the right solution for the team to perform well.”

After a season of drama and injuries, coach Galtier emphasised his personal focus on managing his men. He believes that the team cannot afford to relax and must remain vigilant in their pursuit of the championship even if the remaining schedule looks favorable explaining, “You know, the last trip was to Angers, a team also virtually in Ligue 2. I saw a very willing, dynamic team with a desire to beat the defending champion. I would say the same thing as before the match against Angers.”

Galtier clarified that the team’s recent defeats were not a result of “slacking off” but rather linked to challenging physical factors, exacerbated by injuries affecting several players towards the end of the season. T
