With Paris Saint-Germain’s much-publicised search for a new centre-forward this summer yet to bear its fruits until now, the Ligue 1 champions appear to be closing in on one of their attacking targets.
According to RMC Sport and Le Parisien tonight, PSG have agreed personal terms with Benfica forward Gonçalo Ramos. The 22-year-old is the latest target the club have turned their attention to, after unsuccessful attempts for Harry Kane, Victor Osimhen, Dušan Vlahović and Rasmus Højlund. With Ousmane Dembélé set to arrive, Les Parisiens are also in talks to sign Randal Kolo Muani.
Sporting advisor Luís Campos’ proximity with Ramos’ agent Jorge Mendes – who has been involved in a host of transfers at PSG in the last few seasons – is expected to favour a potential move. However, Benfica themselves are adamant on sticking to their €80m asking price.
Ramos’ signing has not been unanimously approved within the PSG management either. Talks are being led by Campos, while club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi is involved in negotiations for Dembélé and Kolo Muani.
The Portuguese international notably scored a hat-trick against Switzerland at last year’s World Cup, and found the net 27 in all competitions for the Lisbon-based side last season
