Although Paris Saint-Germain are now back on track for a record-breaking 11th league title, the headlines in the past week have been dominated by accusations of discriminatory remarks from Christophe Galtier from his time at Nice last year. The allegations are outlined in an internal email attributed to Les Aiglons‘ former director Julien Fournier, in which he gives an account of several meetings which Galtier to the club’s owners INEOS.
The coach has denied the allegations, and indicated that he would be launching legal proceedings against the journalists who first reported on the email and Fournier himself. The latter, meanwhile, has regretted the timing of the leak but did not explicitly contest the existence of the email in question.
RMC Sport report this afternoon that several of Paris Saint-Germain’s senior players, including Kylian Mbappé, have spoken to Galtier regarding the allegations made in the email. These were informal conversations which took place soon after the reports broke last week, and the manager has not spoken to his squad as a whole.
In the meantime, RMC add, Galtier was in touch with some contacts at Nice to find out whether any Nice playes would speak out in public about the accusations. Meanwhile, PSG president Nasser Al Khelaifi’s entourage has reached out to some of the head coach’s former players, while the club is putting its faith in the investigation recently opened by the authorities – which notably saw a police search take place at the Nice headquarters last Friday, while president Jean-Pierre Rivère was among those questioned by investigators this week.
