Four clubs represent the Bundesliga in the Champions League last 16. Bayern Munich topped their group with a 100% record, the third time that they’ve achieved this. Borussia Dortmund also secured a place in the knockout stages after a 0-0 draw against Manchester City last week.
RB Leipzig only needed one point against Shakhtar Donetsk but won 4-0 whilst Eintracht Frankfurt’s 2-1 win result against Sporting CP after going 1-0 down was enough to secure second place in Group D – at one point, SGE were bottom on MD6. Unfortunately, although Bayer Leverkusen picked up four points against Atlético Madrid, they were unable to secure a place in the round of 16 and Xabi Alonso’s side drop into the Europa League.
Possible opponents for Bundesliga clubs in the last 16
Bayern Munich: Liverpool, Club Brugge, Milan, PSG
Borussia Dortmund: Benfica, Real Madrid, Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea, Porto, Napoli
RB Leipzig: Benfica, Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea, Porto, Napoli
Eintracht Frankfurt: Benfica, Real Madrid, Manchester City, Chelsea, Porto, Napoli
