Second-placed Serie B side Pisa SC have opened talks with Rennes over a loan move for Denmark youth international centre-forward Henrik Meister (21), according to a report from Foot Mercato. Meister was one of several foreign players with no Ligue 1 experience Rennes Sporting director Frederic Massara signed this summer. Meister signed a four-year deal with Stade Rennais over a €7m move from Norwegian Eliteserien club Sarpsborg.
The 21-year-old made a remarkable debut with Les Rouge et Noir, in scoring after coming off the bench in Rennes’ opening day 3-0 home rout against Olympique Lyonnais. Since then, Meister did not kick on at all, totaling only 59 minutes of playing time. In the last months, Meister was either an unused substitute or absent altogether from the matchday squad. Rennes have therefore allowed Meister to leave on loan this winter transfer window. Talks are reportedly underway with Pisa SC.
