Paul Pogba left out of Juventus squad for disciplinary reasons

L’Équipe, via AFP, report this afternoon that Paul Pogba has been left out of Juventus’ squad to face Freiburg for tonight’s Europa League knock-out tie, the French midfielder being sanctioned over a late arrival to the training session on Wednesday.

The Bianconeri, who knocked out Ligue 1’s Nantes in the previous round thanks to an Ángel Di María hat-trick in the second leg, host the Bundesliga high-fliers tonight in Turin. Max Allegri’s men will be looking to put their domestic troubles behind them and find success in Europe – they currently sit in seventh in Serie A after a 15-point deduction over their role in the capital gains scandal.

Pogba was in contention to play, having made his long-awaited return from a knee injury that delayed his second Juventus debut by over half a season, and saw him miss out on France’s World Cup campaign. The former Manchester United man made his return to action in the win over local rivals Torino at the end of February, and made a cameo appearance in the defeat to Roma last weekend.
