RMC Sport report that Ligue 1 side Strasbourg have met with ex-Crystal Palace and OGC Nice manager Patrick Vieira to discuss the vacant management position.
Strasbourg – who were bought by Clearlake Capital through their football holding company BlueCo – made the decision to part ways with experienced relegation battler coach Frédéric Antonetti on Tuesday.
The current priority target is ex-Union Saint-Gilloise coach Karel Geraerts, who is also on the shortlist of fellow French 1st division side OGC Nice.
The club is however conducting a wide search to find Antonetti’s successor and have also spoken with unattached coach and France 1998 World Cup winner Patrick Vieira. He is not currently considered to be the favourite.
Sabri Lamouchi and Philippe Montanier – two coaches who are both also unattached and know Ligue 1 well – figure lower down the shortlist.
Antonetti achieved a points tally of 22 in 15 matches after joining Strasbourg in February, successfully keeping the club up during a unique season that saw 4 teams relegated from Ligue 1 as the league moves from having 20 teams in it to 18.
