Two days after lifting it in Munich, the UEFA Champions League trophy continued its tour of Paris on Monday, with Paris Saint-Germain’s Ousmane Dembélé (28) taking it onto centre court on day nine of the French Open.
A replica of the trophy was taken on an open-top bus parade on Sunday. That parade ended with a celebration on the Champs Élysées and at the Arc de Triomphe. That same trophy was taken onto the court by Dembélé, elected player of the tournament in the Champions League.
Dembélé to join up with France squad
“Ici c’est..”, shouted Dembélé, with the crowd responding “Paris” as he went into the middle of the clay court. PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi was also present in the stands. Dembélé, now the frontrunner for the Ballon d’Or, will now join up with the France national team at Clairefontaine. Les Bleus will face Spain in the semi-finals of the UEFA Nations League in Stuttgart on Thursday.
