Oleksandr Usyk Weakness Identified Ahead of Daniel Dubois Fight

Frank Warren has reiterated Oleksandr Usyk’s main weakness ahead of the upcoming undisputed world heavyweight boxing fight against Daniel Dubois, scheduled for the 19th of July at Wembley Stadium, in London.

Usyk has accomplished an extraordinary amount of success in combat sports in a relatively short amount of fights, having cleared out the cruiserweight division, before taking out the biggest guns at heavyweight, too. Though he’s already fought Dubois once before, the British fighter has rebounded with aplomb and is set once again to box the Ukraine king — this time in his own country.

In their first bout, Dubois and Usyk exchanged knockdowns, in Warren’s mind, yet Usyk’s time on the canvas was adjudged to have been caused by a low blow rather than a legitimate shot.

Frank Warren Says Oleksandr Usyk Has a Clear Weakness

Daniel Dubois may target that weakness once again when they fight in a rematch

Warren summarized Usyk’s weakness in three words, when Sky Sports asked him.

Elaborating, the Hall of Fame promoter said: “Daniel caught him with a legitimate body shot, and hurt him.”

“And, again,” Warren said, “His manager, Egis [Klimas], yesterday, made quite a telling point. He said that, had the referee not called it a low blow, he’d have got up before the count of 10, had he counted. But he took four minutes to get up. That’s the pain he was in.”

Warren believes the time is right for Dubois to fight Usyk for a second time, considering the form and momentum he’s enjoying at world level of late, obliterating the likes of Jarrell Miller, Filip Hrgovic, and Anthony Joshua with relative ease.

“We know Daniel can hurt him,” said Warren. “We know that Daniel’s a knockout artist, he’s stopped his last three opponents in massive style, and that’s going to be a problem for Usyk.”

“I do think Usyk’s body is his weakness and he will obviously go to exploit it again.”

Dubois, meanwhile, told reporters he’s more likely to “mix it up” than constantly target Usyk’s body.

“I got through with that shot it was like a punch from the Gods,” said Dubois.

“You’ve seen him in the past get hurt to the body, but I’m not going to go crazy on it because everyone’s talking about a body shot. They’ll be expecting that.”
