Official | Xavi Simons returns to PSG and secures loan move to Leipzig

Dutch attacking midfielder Xavi Simons (20) is back at PSG. Les Parisiens have triggered their €6m buy-back option to reunite with the former Barcelona youth product following his permanent switch to PSV one year ago. Last season, Simons was arguably the Eredivisie’s stand-out player, logging 22 goals and 12 assists in 48 games played in all competitions. The Dutch international is now tied to Paris Saint-Germain with a new four-year contract set to expire in 2027.

In order to keep an eye on Simons in a highly competitive environment, as well as not hindering his evident progress, PSG have agreed to allow Simons a season-long loan to RB Leipzig. The Red Bull-owned Bundesliga outfit will compete in the Champions League group stage courtesy of their third-place finish this past campaign. Despite the lucratives sales of Christopher Nkunku and Dominik Szoboszlai, respectively to Chelsea and Liverpool, Leipzig are expected to remain a force to be reckoned with due to the club-record purchase of free-scoring Belgian forward Loïs Openda and the loan moves of promising attacking midfielders Fabio Carvalho and Xavi Simons. The Dutchman will wear the #20 jersey with the eastern German side.
