Bundesliga side Wolfsburg have today announced the departure of 24-year-old Croatian defender Marin Pongračić on a season-long loan to Italian side Lecce.
A statement on Wolfsburg’s website read: “Notwithstanding the legal situation, both the player and the club decided to withdraw the claims which they had each submitted and thus to put an end to the dispute between them. The two parties also agreed not to communicate any details regarding the agreement.”
Pongračić joined Wolfsburg from RB Salzburg in January 2020 for €9m. The Croatian defender spent last season on loan at fellow Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund, playing 23 games across all competitions. During his time at VfL, Pongračić played just 23 games.
With less than two weeks of the transfer window remaining, Wolfsburg are expected to be active on the transfer market. According to Sky Germany, Aster Vranckx (19) is expected to leave the club after being dissatisfied with playing time – Everton and Lille are among clubs interested in signing the Belgian midfielder.
