Premier League side Nottingham Forest have this evening announced the signing of 26-year-old central defender Moussa Niakhaté from Mainz for a reported €10m plus €5m in bonuses.
“For me, this a dream to come to England and to sign for such a historic club in Nottingham Forest. The club is well known around the world and its fans are incredible,” said Niakhaté. “The Premier League is also the best league in the world and every player wants to play here.
“I’m just so excited to get started in pre-season, meet my new teammates and get ready for the new season, wearing the Garibaldi red and white at the City Ground.”
The former French youth international has signed a three-year contract with the newly-promoted Premier League club with an option to extend for a further year.
Niakhaté established himself as a leader in the Mainz defence and played 135 games in all competitions for the Bundesliga side following his €8m from Metz in 2018.
