Memphis Depay has officially joined Atlético Madrid from Barcelona. Atlético have released a statement confirming the transfer of the Dutch international.
“Memphis Depay (13 February 1994, Moordrecht, Netherlands) is a new Atlético de Madrid player following the agreement reached with FC Barcelona for the transfer of the Dutch striker to our club, signing for the remainder of the season and two more seasons. The player presentation will be this Friday, January 20 at Cívitas Metropolitano starting at 6:00 p.m., which can be followed live through our social networks and website,” Atlético wrote on their social channels on Friday afternoon.
The fee Atlético will pay for the 28-year-old is believed to be €3m plus €1m in add-ons.
Depay trained with his new club for the first time on Thursday and he could make his league debut for Atlético against Real Valladolid on Saturday.
At Barcelona, he had hardly featured this season (four games and one goal) and Los Colchoneros have managed to get the deal over the line after losing forwards Joao Félix and Matheus Cunha.
