Via press release, Olympique de Marseille have confirmed the signing of Quentin Merlin (21) from FC Nantes for an undisclosed figure.
The French left back leaves his hometown club having developed a reputation for being an attack-minded player who has grown in his abilities to also defend within a rigid system. His performances for Les Canaris had even earned him a role in the France under-21s setup.
However, the lone goal scorer in Nantes’ Coupe de France victory in 2022 over OGC Nice, will now move on to pastures new, as Merlin becomes the latest player to join Gennaro Gattuso’s Marseille side.

Merlin the perfect fit for Marseille’s aims?
Merlin will come in as a replacement for the outgoing Renan Lodi (25) who departed Marseille in January, and the club will be pleased to confirm the signing of a player who fits their stated priority in this transfer window.
Club president, Pablo Longoria, had been reported as being in search of a left back that could play within a back four or a back five, and following his time in Nantes, Merlin has demonstrated his adaptability in the position.
