Olympique Lyonnais have confirmed that Pierre Sage will be their head coach until the end of the season.
Sage had been appointed on an interim basis from the 30th of November following Fabio Grosso’s midseason sacking. However, the former assistant at Red Star has now been provided with the role officially on a contract lasting until the 30th of June.
There had been previous rumours that Les Gones were interested in bringing Bruno Génésio back to the club following his sacking from Stade Rennais this season, however, Sage has impressed in the role.
Under their new manager, the club has risen from the bottom of the table and out of the relegation zone and will look to return from the midseason break with their fourth consecutive win in the league.

Work to do at Lyon for Sage
For the second part of the season, Sage will need to continue his improvement in results, while also looking to integrate the new signings that have arrived in the transfer window.
Despite the positive turnaround, Lyon are by no means safe from the drop, and performances cannot be allowed to return to how they were before Sage was brought in. With this in mind, Lyon will provide extra support for their manager, with the behind-the-scenes additions of Jamal Alioui (a former player at Lyon) and Damien Della Santa (a developmental specialist).
