Official | Kevin Danso extends contract with Lens

Lens have this afternoon announced that Kevin Danso has renewed his contract, committing his future to the Sang et Or for the next four seasons.

The Austrian international had been the subject of keen interest from Napoli, but the Serie A champions were unable to prise him away from the Ligue 1 runners-up – a transfer saga which Lens themselves have poked fun at in their announcement video for the renewal, posted on social media.

The former Southampton man  – who was named Get French Football News’ Ligue 1 player of the year – made 37 appearances in Ligue 1 last season and was a standout performer in Franck Haise’s team, who were the best-performing defence in the league.

Having already seen two key players in Séko Fofana and Loïs Openda leave this summer, the Artois outfit were keen to avoid losing another important part of the squad – not least ahead of their Champions League group stage campaign this upcoming season.
