Borussia Mönchengladbach have announced that Gerardo Seoane will replace Daniel Farke as the club’s new head coach.
Managing director Roland Virkus commented on why the club went in this direction: “Gerardo Seoane has worked successfully in various positions in recent years. He is a young, but already experienced coach who fits our football approach, and we are pleased to have him at Borussia Mönchengladbach from now on.”
Seoane signs a three year contract at Gladbach. Joining Seoane on his coaching team will be Patrick Schnarwiler (co-trainer) and Nicolas Dyon (athletic trainer).
The Swiss last managed Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga where he led the club to a third place finish in his first season in charge. However, he was sacked 12 games into this season after a poor run of results in the league and the Champions League. Seoane has also managed Young Boys in his native Switzerland who he led to three Swiss championships.
Previous coach Farke was dismissed last Friday after a poor season which saw Gladbach finish 10th and struggle to win games in the second half of the season, especially away from home.
