Bayern Munich have this afternoon announced the departure of 21-year-old Dutch forward Joshua Zirkzee to Italian side Bologna for a reported fee of €8.5m.
In addition, Bayern Munich will also receive a 50% share of any future fee that Bologna receive, whilst they have an option to match any accepted bid in the future. The Bundesliga side have also secured a buy-back option, reported to be up to €25m.
“Joshua Zirkzee has great potential and it’s now vital for his development that he plays regularly,” said Hasan Salihamidžić. “That’s why we complied with his request and have now agreed a transfer with Bologna FC. The agreement includes a buy-back clause because Joshua remains a very interesting player for us. We will follow his progress in Bologna and wish him much success in Serie A.”
Zirkzee spent last season loan at Belgian side Anderlecht, scoring 18 and creating 13 in 47 games across all competitions, but failed to establish himself within the Bayern Munich squad.
